Our Wedding

Brooke &amp; Ken met at Syracuse University the Fall of 2016 - Brooke’s Freshman year and Ken’s Sophomore year. They bonded over their love for Boston sports and became fast friends, staying in touch throughout the years. In the Fall of 2018, they went on their first date and officially became boyfriend/girlfriend shortly after.A year later, Ken moved to Los Angeles after graduating from college, while Brooke still had a year left and was preparing to study abroad for a semester in Florence, Italy. Despite the distance and nine-hour time difference, they chose to face the challenge together. Ken visited Brooke twice during her time in Italy, and together they experienced some amazing places - Florence, Rome, and even Paris. It was such a special experience to share at a young age! Brooke returned to Syracuse to finish up her final semester (online once the pandemic hit), and followed Ken to Los Angeles once she got a job in the city.Brooke &amp; Ken spent a few years in LA, navigating covid lockdowns and the shift to working from home all while adjusting to a new city together. It’s also where they got their dog, Brody - who basically runs the show now and who they seriously can’t imagine life without.While living in LA, they also fell in love with snowboarding together - so much so that they were constantly making the 5-hour trek to Mammoth Mountain. When their lease was up, they made a spontaneous decision to move to Lake Tahoe…without ever having been there before!The move was only supposed to last one snowboard season…but over two years later, Brooke &amp; Ken are still in Lake Tahoe - and loving it! They’ve completely fallen for the mountain life and while Winter first drew them in, they’ve come to cherish Tahoe summers just as much. (Brody would argue Summer is the real winner - all the trails &amp; lake adventures).On September 1st 2024, Ken brought Brooke to the scenic Donner Summit swing, overlooking the stunning views of Donner Lake - and asked her to spend forever with him. Lake Tahoe has become such a meaningful place for them, which is why they’ve chosen to say ‘I do’ surrounded by the mountains they love, at Palisades Tahoe on June 6th, 2026.

Flights

Reno is the closest airport to Lake Tahoe. It’s about an hour drive from Palisades via Uber/Lyft, rental car, or booked shuttle. Tahoe is a car-friendly area and there is plenty of parking.

Reno-Tahoe International Airport

San Francisco is approximately a 3 1/2 hour drive from Palisades without traffic. It does often have a larger selection of non-stop flights available.

San Francisco International Airport

Sacramento is approximately a 2 hour drive from Palisades without traffic.

WHERE TO STAY

We recommend staying right at the venue, at The Village at Palisades Tahoe! You’ll be able to take provided transportation to the welcome event, walk (and tram) to the ceremony/reception, and walk back to your room at the end of the night. Rather than a room block, Palisades offers all guests a 20-25% discount off their room rates. Please use the website link here to book your room at the discounted rate. You may also call the phone number provided and ask to book with the Ebert &amp; O’Brien wedding. Please be sure to book your room by May 4th to receive the discounted rate. Rooms booked after this date may no longer be eligible for the discount.

The Village at Palisades Tahoe

This is another hotel option right in Olympic Valley within walking distance of The Village.

PlumpJack Inn

For those looking for a more traditional hotel experience, Everline is located about 2.5 miles from the base of the venue (approximately a 6min drive; 1hr walk). They do offer a shuttle service to and from the Village at Palisades, but please note that it runs starting at 9am with the last pickup from the Village at Palisades at 10:45pm. Our wedding reception will end at 10pm but if you plan on joining us for the after party at the Rocker from 10pm to midnight, please note that the hotel shuttle will no longer be running after the party ends. Guests will need to arrange their own transportation back to the hotel if staying out past the shuttle's final pickup.

Everline Resort & Spa Lake Tahoe - Destination by Hyatt

There are plenty of house and condo rentals within Olympic Valley &amp; the broader North Lake Tahoe area available via AirBnB or VRBO. Some areas outside of Olympic Valley that I would suggest looking into:- Kings Beach- Tahoe City- Truckee We highly recommend renting a car if you are not staying at The Village.

TRANSPORTATION

North Lake Tahoe Express is a shuttle service between the Reno-Tahoe International Airport and North Lake Tahoe. Palisades Tahoe is a shuttle pick-up &amp; drop-off location. If you choose not to stay at Palisades, still take a look if interested in a shuttle as they offer a wide range of locations within the North Lake Tahoe area!

There are car rental agencies within both airport options listed. We recommend renting a car if you are interested in exploring the Lake Tahoe area!

Rental Car

If traveling by Uber/Lyft, we recommend scheduling your Uber/Lyft back to the airport as the wait time can be long.You should have no issue getting an Uber/Lyft from the Reno-Tahoe airport to Palisades/the North Lake Tahoe area! We do not recommend relying solely on Uber/Lyft to get around North Lake Tahoe. Uber/Lyft is available in the area but expect to pay high rates and experience potentially long wait times.

Uber/Lyft

Tart offers both a bus &amp; ride share transportation option. Bus Transportation Details:Tart offers free bus transportation within the area. If you choose to stay at The Village at Palisades Tahoe, there is a Tart bus stop. Tart Ride Share Service Details:Tart also offers a free ride share service within the Truckee, Incline Village, and Tahoe City/Kings Beach areas. Highly recommend this, we use it all the time and it’s basically free Uber! Just want to caveat that as it’s a ride share you may have to make a stop before reaching your destination &amp; each town is it’s own zone service area so you cannot take one Tart to travel between towns. As Palisades Tahoe is a bus stop, it is not an option for the ride share service but if you find yourself traveling within one of the available towns this is a great option! If interested, we recommend checking out their website and downloading the app for more information! The app is the best way to book a ride share and/or check the bus schedule. ‘TART Connect’ in the App Store. If using, just be mindful of their ‘service hours’ as buses and ride shares do not run all hours of the night.

Downtown Truckee is a charming mountain town with local shops, restaurants, and a train that runs right through the heart of it. We’re lucky to call the town of Truckee our home, too! Kings Beach 

Kings Beach is a laid-back lake town with a fun, beachy vibe. This is a great spot to rent paddleboards or kayaks as there are a few local shops in town and a sandy public beach to launch at!

Tahoe City

Downtown Tahoe City sits along the lake and offers a perfect mix of mountain vibes and lakeside charm. Enjoy local shops and restaurants on one side of the street, and a view of the Lake on the other!

Palisades Tahoe Mountain

In early June, the conditions at Palisades Tahoe can vary depending on the season’s snowfall. The resort may still be open for spring skiing and snowboarding, or it may have transitioned to summer activities like hiking. The mountain skiing/snowboarding season tends to end Memorial Day weekend but if they’ve had an exceptional season they will stay open as long as possible (a few yrs back, the closing date was July 4th)! We recommend checking the resort’s website closer to the date for the most up-to-date information on available activities.

Restaurants &amp; shops open/closure status and hours can vary based upon the mountain activities. There are some places within The Village that will close or have more limited hours during the ski/snowboard off season. Hiking

Stateline Lookout Trail

Hike the Stateline Lookout Trail for panoramic views of Lake Tahoe from above. The 1.7 mile trail is paved on what used to be a fire road. It takes about 50 minutes to complete, with great views at the top. Heads up it is all uphill to the lookout point! Directions: Enter coordinates (39.2373500, -120.0041300) into your GPS. When you get there, you will need to park on the side of the road. The trail starts by a gate, but you cannot park there. Donner Pass Train Tunnels

This is a very unique and historic hiking experience! We highly recommend bringing a flashlight as there are not any artificial light sources in the tunnels. That said, the tunnel system on Donner Pass is a series of disconnected tunnels. This is an out-and-back route, so make it as long or short as you’d like! Directions: Enter coordinates (39.31671,-120.33003) into your GPS. There are no official signs to the train tunnels, but there’s a small dirt lot in this area and you should be able to see the tunnel at the lot. Truckee River Legacy Trail

This is a great place for a casual walk along the river! There are also great spots along the walking path for picnics or hanging out by the river. Not necessarily a ‘must see’ but it’s one of Brody’s favorite places for a walk! Directions: We recommend entering at the Truckee entrance. Enter ‘East River Street, Truckee CA’ into your GPS. Drive down this road until there are no more houses on your right and you see a bridge (on your right). There is a small dirt area to park in front of the bridge. Another dirt lot is across the street, but we don’t recommend parking there as we believe it’s a construction lot.

BEACHES

HIDDEN BEACH

This is one of our favorite spots on the lake! A great place to lounge and/or swim. When you arrive, you will find a beautiful beach flanked by giant boulders. There are multiple spots between the boulders to walk down to the water. If you are enjoying the walk, the Tahoe East Shore Trail also continues along the lake to the left (if you’re facing the water)! Although the name would suggest otherwise, this spot is far from hidden at this point. That said, you can still find a great spot! On weekends, we recommend getting there early. Directions: Park in the Tunnel Creek Cafe lot (1115 Tunnel Creek Rd suite a, Incline Village, NV 89451). Parking here does require a fee. Take the Tahoe East Shore Trail (uphill with a fence along the highway to start). This is a paved ~20 minute / 1 mile walk, but it’s an incredibly beautiful trail! Once you reach the portion that takes you through a tunnel under Highway 28, you’ve arrived.

Sand Harbor

Sand Harbor is one of the most picturesque and popular destinations in the area. Ideal for swimming, kayaking, paddle boarding, and sunrise/sunset viewing &amp; photography. Due to it’s popularity, parking/getting a spot can be a hassle. New starting Summer 2025, a mandatory day-use parking reservation system has been implemented. A parking reservation will be required 7 days a week from 8a-10:30am daily, with unclaimed spots becoming available on a first-come first served basis after 10:30am. Reservations can be made through ReserveNevada.com. Advanced reservations are at a fee, as well as a parking entrance fee. If you do choose to visit we highly recommend making a parking reservation, visiting during the week, and arriving early!

Welcome Party Shuttle Bus Schedule on Friday, June 5th

Please note that Uber/Lyft availability can be limited in the Truckee area, especially later in the evening. We recommend utilizing the provided shuttle service or driving your own vehicle if preferred. If you choose to take an earlier shuttle, RMU is conveniently located in downtown Truckee with shops, bars, and restaurants nearby to explore before the Welcome Party begins. Of course you're also welcome to relax and hang out at RMU beforehand! For those not quite ready for the evening to end, the bar inside RMU will remain open after the Welcome Party concludes at 10pm but please keep in mind the final shuttle back to Palisades departs at 10:30pm.
